I had a little fun in Photoshop with this image. I thought the blue moon shot I had edited previously would be a perfect fit for this amazing frozen waterfall I found while exploring the San Juan Mountains around the Silverton/Lake City area. I found this spot somewhere way up Engineer Pass. This was on my 1st day of 4 being lost up here (a story you could say I am locally known for since.) As a photographer does, or at least this one, I may have been lost and a bit freaked out but there was still a beautiful new (to me) land to explore, so explore I did. While chasing scenes of the river and small waterfalls with a backdrop of a majestic mountain range, I was lead into this incredible canyon containing a frozen waterfall. It was the beginning of October and still quite warm during the day, so this site was very unexpected. I still consider this one of the most incredible scenes I have ever seen. The formation of the ice and the stature of the canyon was just and incredible site. It was not easy to climb my way up into here while holding a camera and most certainly not wearing ice spikes, I'm sure I was most likely wearing my Keen sandals. I was too late to grab my go to sunstar on the ridge shot but I am happy with my decision on how to add even more to this image with the addition of the moon. I hope you agree.
